Date Difference Calculator
الفرق بين تاريخين
Pick a start and end date to see the time between them in years, months and days, plus total days, weeks and hours.
Calculated in your browser. Your data is never sent to a server.
Result
Pick both dates to see the time between them.
You often need the time between two dates: a lease term, days of leave, time left until a deadline or an employee's length of service. This tool gives the result two ways: a calendar difference (years, months, days) and plain totals (days, weeks, hours).
If the end day itself should count, as with leave that includes both the first and last day, turn on “Include the end day” and one day is added.
How it works
- If the start date is after the end date, the order is swapped automatically and you are told so.
- Total days is the actual number of days between the dates in the Gregorian calendar, leap years included.
- Years and months are counted in full, then the remaining days. A month is complete when the same day of the next month is reached.
- Weeks = total days ÷ 7, with the remainder in days.
Formulas
Total days = end date − start date (+1 if the end day is included)Weeks = floor(days ÷ 7)Hours = days × 24
Worked examples
A full leap year
From 1 January 2024 to 1 January 2025 is one year: 366 days, or 52 weeks and 2 days, because 2024 is a leap year.
The whole of 2026
From 1 January 2026 to 31 December 2026 is 364 days (11 months and 30 days). Including the end day makes it 365 days.
Frequently asked questions
Are the start and end days counted?
By default we count the difference between the dates, so the end day is not included. Turn on the option to count both days.
Why don't months equal days divided by 30?
Months vary from 28 to 31 days. We count full calendar months, which is the right approach for contracts and ages.
Can I count working days only?
Yes, use the Working Days Calculator to exclude weekends and public holidays.
