How it works
- Price after the first discount = price × (1 − discount).
- The extra discount applies to the already reduced price, not the original.
- Tax (if any) is added to the discounted price.
- Savings = original price − discounted price.

Worked examples
20% then an extra 10% off 200
200 × 0.8 = 160, then 160 × 0.9 = 144. You save 56, an effective 28% off, not 30%.
25% off then 15% tax on 100
100 × 0.75 = 75, then 75 × 1.15 = 86.25.
Frequently asked questions
Does 50% + 50% off mean free?
No, it's 75% off, because the second discount applies to half the price.
Is tax charged before or after the discount?
