Audio Converter

Choose an audio or video file, pick MP3 or WAV and the quality, trim the part you want if you like, then download the result.
Calculated in your browser. Your data is never sent to a server.
Converted file
Choose an audio file or drop it here
Conversion happens in your browser; your file is never uploaded. Converting between compressed formats can't restore lost quality. WAV files are large because they're uncompressed. Long files can take a minute or more on a phone.
WhatsApp voice notes are OPUS, iPhone recordings are M4A, and some devices and apps only accept MP3. This tool converts the file to MP3 or WAV in one step.
Conversion runs in your browser, so private recordings are never uploaded. You can also trim part of the clip to make a ringtone or short excerpt.
How to use it
- Click the upload box or drop the file onto it. Audio files and MP4 or WebM video are accepted.
- Pick MP3 for a small file that plays everywhere, or WAV for uncompressed audio for editing.
- Choose a bitrate: 128 for speech, 192 or 256 for music, 320 for the highest quality.
- To trim, enter a start and end time such as 0:30 and 1:00. Leave both empty to convert the whole file.
- Click Convert, listen to the result, then click Download.
Output file size
MP3: size ≈ seconds × bitrate ÷ 8Example: 4 minutes at 192 kbps = 240 × 192 ÷ 8 ≈ 5.8 MBWAV: size ≈ seconds × sample rate × channels × 2 bytesExample: 4 minutes stereo at 44,100 Hz ≈ 42 MB
Converting can't improve an already compressed file. Choosing 320 for a 128 kbps source only makes it bigger.
Worked examples
WhatsApp voice note to MP3
Save the voice note (.opus), drop it here and choose MP3 at 128 kbps to get a file that plays on any device.
Ringtone from a song
Upload the song, set start 1:05 and end 1:35, choose MP3 at 192 kbps and you get a 30-second clip.
Extract audio from a video
Upload an MP4 video and choose MP3; only the audio is saved, far smaller than the video.
Frequently asked questions
Is my file uploaded?
No. The file is read and converted only in your browser and is never sent to a server.
Which formats are supported?
Browsers usually read MP3, WAV, M4A, AAC, OGG, OPUS and FLAC, plus the audio in MP4 and WebM video. Formats like WMA and AMR aren't supported by browsers. Older Safari may not read OGG and OPUS.
Why can't I convert to M4A or OGG?
Browsers don't offer a reliable way to save those formats directly. MP3 plays almost everywhere and WAV is ideal for editing.
Mono or stereo?
Stereo has left and right channels and suits music. Mono is one channel, fine for speech, and halves the size of a WAV.
It's slow on my phone. What can I do?
Long files take time because encoding runs on your device. Trim to the part you need, pick a lower bitrate or use a computer for very long files.
